Elizabeth Ann Seton and her husband, William Magee Seton, helped to host George Washington's 65th birthday ball in New York City. Elizabeth was a loyal friend. Fortunately for us today, she wrote many letters which have been preserved. Staying in touch was important to her. Her portable writing desk is at right. It reminds me of laptop.
